Hammerzeite

i remember buying here comes the fuzz when it came out and being really impressed with it, but having heard version all i can say is “Ronson what the hell have you done??”. this guy was someone who i thought had credibility and had a good ear for an eclectic number of influences but ‘Version" just seems like the usual. HE SOLD OUT TO A COMMERCIAL MARKET TO BECOME RICH AND FAMOUS. its a shame as this guy could have gone on to make and produce some fantastic pieces of work and what we ended up with was a load of cover versions and none of them are any good. dont belive me well in ten years time when we have been spoon fed’Stop me" for the 4,000,000th time on mainstream radio then maybe you will actually take a genuine look at this body of work and say Mark Ronson the sell out mother f@@cker. And on top of that an essential mix with all his crap cover versions and robbie williams!!!!! for god sake this deserves removing from my memory permanantly!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would much rather listen to something original!!!!!

Personally I think Ronson’s cover of Radiohead’s “Just” is his best track to date.

Mark Ronson is showing great skills in his music selection. He rips it from a Notorious B.I.G. song through The Smiths and the dancy Peter, Bjorn and John ‘Young Folks. E/C. What else to say? Definitely worth the download.

I think that it was be the best thing since sliced bread if this mix was available in two parts. I love to get the latest mixes & check them out on the way to school, and the tracklisting on this is unbelievable! But def. cant mash it all on one cd! Anyway, Im sure its not gonna happen, but HAM IS BETTER WITH CREAM CHEESE PEOPLE!!

I didnt really understand why this was the number one download, but after listening to it….well, lets just say that it sent shivers down my spine…i havent heard a mix set like this for a long while, the mixing is tight, the selection of songs are justified and above all else…it was a pleasure on my ears to listen to this. i am now listening to it on a daily basis! Love the Oooo—eee mixups!

I will leave it up to you to decide!

Personally with the quality of the mixing,
track selection and background history to this mix I have to go with the later.

That blend of Chaka Khan w/Snoop is pretty inspired, I would have never made the connection between those two songs if it hadn’t been for this mix!

i’m not really sure about this mix.

given the comments and the ratings i expected it to be a lot better.

i should say that what i look for in a mix are:

1. great selection of tracks with a few obscurities thrown in – songs i have never heard before but wish that i had;

2. dj skills that compliment where the mix is going – ie. party-vibes, downtempo, etc and

3. long term listenability.

In relation to this mix, whilst i agree that the mixes are tight, i would say in relation to each of the above:

1. it is more of a showcase of ronson’s production skills than his digging. whilst his blends and covers are good – its a no-brainer to fuse commercially successful pop music for a dance floor. I have much greater respect for someone like z-trip who blends obscure songs from many different genres.

2. the whole mix seemed a bit too “studio” for my liking. nothing sounded like it was on the fly or because ronson was feelin it. it sounded too busy at times – so many things going on that they were all distracting.

3. not sure – i suppose i will listen to it a few more time to see if it grows on me, but lets just say that i’m not that excited by the prospect of doing so – that’s not a good sign!

I agree with you. I wasn’t considerably impressed and haven’t listened to this after about two times going through it.

The Kariboo Krew and some Moneyshot mixes are some that I listen to over and over, along with some Breezeblocks like Bomb the Bass and Kid Koala. This one is lacking something…
