Seems this one had slipped under PTs Moneyshot radar. Mine too, to be honest. Found deep in the archives of Mondayjazz, so no tracklist, not even their usual oblique word montage. This is actually a fairly simple intro by their standards…
About The Mix
Monday of the famous Welsh man,
It is quite funky, as we felt from compilation Bird’s Custard recorded for Mondayjazz.
Dj Moneyshot rom Cardiff, Wales, doesn’t like to brag about himself, but he has appeared on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel radio show 4 times already, winning the mix of the year in 2005, not mentioning the productive friendships with Ugly Duckling and Massive Attack.
Bird’s Custard is a funky piece. His tributes to the old school of jazz music, move with Latin flavoured drum’n’bass, he raps from the underground about life on the street that is difficult, but full of surprises and pleasures and then he touchingly improvises with powerful saxophone and even strings.
This is a simple and funky compilation, from the old school jazz and rap to a new funky breaks.

Looking forward to this one, I’ve grabbed a lot of top mixes from the Monday jazz site, i also missed this one.
Moneyshot has been a bit hit and miss for me but his Mothers Ruin mixtape must go down as one of the best out there.
PS. i may have been a bit harsh with my “hit and miss” comment above but his Mothers Ruin mixtape was the first I heard from him and I now compare all his mixes against it.

I also love Mother’s Ruin and consider it an instant classic. This mix is on his site under mixes, which means I have gotten it before but I guess I overlooked it. I’ll give it another spin on the way home from work.

Ah, I did look thru his site for it but didn’t see it there. Must have some kind of stealth mode. Cheers Phil.
Back once again…

no, you’re absolutely right about being ‘hit and miss’. I love Moneyshots mixes, but not every one can be a winner. all my favorite DJs have at least one or two mixes I don’t care for.
But I am digging on this one. good old school jazz. nice find.
If ya wanna dance, ya gotta pay the band…
